Cooper Discoverer SRX vs Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season — Compared (September 2026)

“Tire recommendations that are lighter than Wildpeaks BLUF: Looking for an off-road capable tire (225/65R17) that doesn't weigh as much as a Falken Wildpeak. I'm aware off-road tires weigh more by design -- beefy treads, blocks, and sidewalls come at a cost weight-wise. That much I understand. That said, Falken Wildpeaks (30 lbs), Geolandar A/T G015s (30.3 lbs), Toyo Open Country A/T III (32 lbs) and even something more mild like a Cooper Discoverer SRX (31 lbs) represent a nearly 25% increase in rotational mass (I think that is the correct term) over the stock Dueler H/P Sport AS tires, and therefore will drag down MPGs and wear on the drivetrain a bit more over time. Is anyone aware of AT or AT-style tires that are fairly close to the OEM tire weight? Did anyone else shopping for tires take weight into account? I'm not in need of something super aggressive, but I do like to take on mild to moderate trails at the local OHV park, as well as the occasional dirt road overloading trip. The Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus is at least under 30 at 29 lbs, as is the 28 lbs Cooper Discoverer EnduraMax which integrates "all-terrain tire technology" according to the TireRack page. And the Firestone Destination LE 2 only weighs 24 lbs, and the LE 3 is 23 lbs. but I'm not sure how off-road capable those tires are. Thank you, this has been my Ted Talk. Read more”

Should I go with them again or try out the Michelins? The Michelins seem to get good reviews and they're about the same price across both brands. What do you think? “Time to start considering my next set of tires Bought my used 2010 Lexus RX450h a few years ago, and the tread is starting to get shallow, after putting about 30k on the Pirelli Scorpion Verde All-Season tires that came with the vehicle (vehicle is at 116k total). I've been very happy with the performance I've received on the Pirelli tires; especially in heavy rains. The one thing I haven't really done is take them to the snow. But, with that said, I've been looking at other brands. The Bridgestone Blizzak and UltraWeather tires carry 80k mile warrantees, and are less expensive. Plus, the latter has the 3PMSF rating along with the M+S, so it's actually rated for snowy conditions. There's also the Michelin CrossClimate 2 to consider. Am I giving up performance in rainy conditions by going with the higher snow rated tire? The Pirelli tires are about $30ish more per tire. In the scheme of things is $100-120 per set in the scheme of things? What other brands/models are people using that gives them really good performance in rain, with some trips to the snow/ice country? “All Season tyres Finding All Season tyres for my EV9 is proving to be an impossible task. Apparently this tyre size is unusual. I only found Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season (113V, LR) which is not an EV tyre but in fact intended for Land Rover. And it's not 3PMSF (real winter certification required in places like Germany). Anyone has some experience with this? Or is everyone with summer+winter tyres set up. Thank you!”

“Opinions on the Pirelli Scorpion Verde AS My 2020 RR Sport SE has hit 36k and the tires are done. It appears that there's only one tire to choose from for 19 inch wheels - the OEM Pirelli Scorpion Verde. They don't get great reviews compared to other brands available on 20/21/22 inch wheels. I don't have any experience with anything else to compare on this vehicle. I can get some 21 inch wheels for $1200 locally and there are a lot of tire options. Aside from aesthetics, is getting away from the Scorpion Verde worth it for ride quality?”
