Michelin Primacy 5 review

“New tyres. Michelin Primacy 5. My Mazda 6 had factory original Bridgestone Turanza 001’s fitted when I bought it. They had 4mm left but were really slippy in the rain and loud as heck. I really liked Primacy 4’s in my previous car (Saab 9-3) and decided to go with the Michelin again. So far my feeling is really positive. They are smooth and silent and bumps on the road feel less sharp. Michelins usually need to be run in a bit so let’s see how they feel after 1000 km. Read more”

“7,000km, Primacy 5 225/55 R17, harsh ride I had to replace 6+ year old Goodyear Efficiencygrip 2 and, after reading quite a bit on options, I decided to try the Primacy 4+ but I couldn't find them in my size without being an XL tire. So, I thought I would then try the Primacy 5 and found them in 97/W spec and...sort of disappointed still after 7,000km My car specs my tire pressures at 36....I tried 35, 34...not really much of a difference. My gf's SUV with 225/65 R16s bridgestone somethings feels smoother. Anyone disappointed with the Michelins like me?”

“Primacy 5 205/55 R16, harsh ride compared to continental premium contact 7. Continental absorbed bumps better, and it sounded better, it was a muffled sound in suspension, Michelin feels like matador I drove before. Also, I'm almost at 10k km done with these Michelin's and I'm already down to 5mm in front. Very disappointed, I got them instead of premium contact 7 ( that I absolutely loved ) because it should last more than continental, but they wear very fast and I got no grip at all.”

“I use Primacy 5 as summer and have tried CC3 as winter (installed in october 2025 and removed in april 2026). I live in northern Italy and have been driving on highways, country roads and city roads, both in dry, rainy and snow conditions, and in Alps last december with ice/snow. The difference in terms of noise and comfort is noticeable (in favor to P5), but CC3 in this matter are way better than average winter tires.”

“Am avut primacy 4 pe o electrica. Destul de dezamagit de faptul ca dupa ~ 28.000 km s-au tocit rau de au ajuns cam la 3 mm. Placute la condus, silentioase, dar nu cele mai aderente. Pilot sport 4 pe aceiasi electrica cu primacy 4. Huruie de te doare capul. Aderenta nu o simt neaparat wow fata de primacy 4. Nu le mai suport si abia astept sa le trec pe iarna, oricum asta fiind ultima incaltare cu ele. Pe o termica am primacy 5, si sunt cele mai ok din experienta mea. Cele mai silentioase si aderente din cele 3. Dupa 20.000 km uzura a scazut cam cu 1 mm. Recomandarea mea e sa alegi primacy 5 fara ezitare.”

“I’ve been using the Primacy 5 on my CX-5 for 5,000 km now, and they are significantly quieter than my Turanza summer tires I had before. (Both 225/55R19) By the way, the EU noise label doesn’t reflect the noise level inside the car. It measures the sound emitted as the vehicle passes by.”
