Michelin Road 6 review

“Switched to Michelin Road 6 tires and wento up a tire size front and rear Got about 11k miles out of the stock Dunlops before the front started cupping and the rear was at the minimum tread depth. Since I bought the bike I wanted to go up in tire size to 120/70/17 Front and 160/60/17 rear. I took it easy the first 60 miles and today was the first day I got to really feel the difference and it’s night and day. The combination of the Road 6s just being a more grippy tire and the bigger tire sizes is a great combo for this bike. It’s still flicky but it takes slightly more effort to lean into corners which allows me to more finely adjust to the line I want to take. The best analogy I can use to describe it is in first person video games when the sensitivity is too high for your play style and you turn it down and it lets you be more accurate. The tires also raise the bike slightly which for me puts it at a perfect height. Before the bike just set a little lower for my liking but now I feel like I sit perfectly above the road and in turns I feel like I have better stability. This is my first motorcycle of any kind so by the time I felt comfortable enough to lean in aggressively the rear tire was squared off enough to feel not ideal. “Michelin Road 6 Short Life Put a set of Michelin Road 6 tires on my '25 MT-09 SP after reading rave reviews. They handle well enough, and have enough traction to put down the power, but at only 2,156 miles the rear is about shot (the front is perfectly fine though). The wear looks pretty even/normal, just premature. I ride fairly aggressively, but I never do burnouts and rarely do power wheelies. I got about 2,000 miles out of the factory S23's before it started showing belt. I ride the same as I did with those tires but I was expecting to get way more life out of the Road 6's. I ride the twisties quite a bit, and have pretty small chicken strips. I go for long rides a lot, and am beginning to wonder if the roads here are made of sandpaper. Even on my DR650 with Shinko 705's I only get like 1,500 miles of pretty tame riding. Anybody else have a similar experience?”

“23,000 miles on a Road 6 front/13,000 rear Just a data point. Rear still has some miles to go. Front is done, finally. Credit has to go to the softer electronic suspension settings. This is by far the longest life I’ve been able to get out of any set of these tires on any bike I’ve owned. Read more”

“What are your favorite tires for the street and why? For me personally I love the Michelin Road series. I’ve had Road 4’s on my Fireblade and just finished my first rear Road 6 on my Concourse 14 and it’s just a phenomenal tire IMO. What really sells me on this tire is the wet traction and grip no matter what I’m doing or how aggressively I’m riding. This tire has amazing wet grip from start of its life all the way to the cords. I literally broke them in while it was raining and they reached the cords while riding back home in the rain, wind and hail. They have never once made me question their grip being rain or ripping down sweeping corners of the Blue Ridge Parkway. What about y’all?”

“I used to love the Michelin Power and Roads , but recently they have gotten more expensive and there are tires out there that are just as good and cheaper. I had a pair of Road 6's that cupped so bad I had to swap them out in less than 4k miles...apparently they flattened out the profile for the Road 6 so that they don't handle as sharply too. I now run Dunlop ( Q's or Sportmax) or Bridgestone ( S22 or R11) on my track/sportbikes and Dunlop Mutants on my GS and Metzler Tourance's on my F650.”

“Avoid the Road 6 on a sportsbike if you have any intention on giving it real lean. Fine for 90% of road riding but they are limited (and Michelin will say the same) at the limit. I had some Road 4s on my FireBlade, I could not wait to get some Pirellis back on it and I was pleased when I got a puncture so I could justify a new set. They were brilliant in the wet, but on a warm sunny day they just didnt give the same sticky glue feeling that a proper sporty tyre does, ruined the bike for me. The confidence returned as soon as the Pirrelli Diablo Rosso 3s went back on. If you're not the knee down type though they may serve you well, they last forever. The S23 is a great tyre for sporty road riding, that's what I would go with on the RR”
