BFGoodrich All Terrain TA KO2 review

“I run Hakkapeliittas in the winter (UP of Michigan, 300"+ of snow per year) but I ran my KO2s last winter and they performed surprisingly well. They do struggle in ice and burnished snowpack, especially under 15F in my experience and since they have no siping they don't clear as well as snow tires. If it's KO2s vs. All Seasons I'd go with the KO2s, just know they still don't beat proper snow tires.”

“BFGoodrich KO2s are an excellent choice That is all. We got whacked with that big winter weather system here in Michigan last week. My '21 Sport is fitted with 235/75R15 KO2s and I finally got a feel for their cold/snow/ice performance characteristics. My opinion is favorable. They were good enough in 5-6" of loose powder, felt planted in melty slush, but mostly impressed me on glazed ice. Didn't encounter any hardpack snow, so can't really comment on how they'll do with that, but I expect they'll perform well on that surface also. I've been running at 38 psi, seems to work okay. Road noise is minimal. Fuel economy took a giant hit, though. I have no empirical measurements to back my observations, but it appears I've taken about an 8 MPG penalty. It only gets worse with speed, too. Highway miles eat even more gas than regular surface streets. Makes sense, given the nature of these tires. To be fair, however, I knew this would happen and accept the loss. For me and my goals with my Crosstrek build, the fuel economy loss is made up for with the improved grip under any road surface I've thrown at it yet. Just wanted to share my experience so far. “Nitto RidgeGrapplers… I had them for 4 years and had tons of tread left after 40000 miles until I got a new job where my truck stayed on that dark asphalt 10 hours a day and they started cracking but I had the 10ply tires as I used to pull a 16ft trailer with mowers all the time… my tires had several small nails in them but it never once had a flat somehow. They do good in the slick stuff although I had 4wd but I only ever drove on ice one time and they did better than I thought. I currently have KO2s… honestly not a fan simply because balancing them is a nightmare for some reason”

“I drove to the Deadhorse, Alaska (as far north as you can drive in America). The Dalton highway is a notorious 400 mile gravel road start just north of Fairbanks. Lots of people bring 2 spares. I had 0 flats. KO2 eat snow and sand for breakfast. They definitely improve my Q5 and allow me to hang with proper off-roaders (at least for a little while)”

“I had the Duratracs on two trucks and they lasted a long time and we’re great in snow. However they get super noisy at 50mph speeds starting at around 25k miles. I have switched to BFG KO2 and they are much quieter but also seem to be good for snow. I got E rated though since I’m often off-road and that mad made the ride a little more harsh, but only slightly since I have the off-road suspension on my truck.”

“2019 zr2 Duratracs were a good tire. Only complaint was the last 10k of their life they got LOUD on the pavement. Good in snow, good on trails. Went to KO2s when it was time for new shoes. Like the stronger side walls and rating, better traction in hard dirt, no real difference in loose rocks or winter to me. Definitely harsher ride w the stiffer sidewalls. I have the ZR2 now as a 2nd rig (finally) so it doesn’t get daily miles. I’d purchase the KO2s again. Daily driver? Duratracs are better, but that horrid drone the last 10k of life would be enough for me to pass on them. 🍻”
