Hankook Dynapro AT2 review

“The stock Dynapro AT2 tires are awful in the rain We've had our first real rain since spring today here in the PNW, and I've gotta say these stock Hankook tires are the worst tires I've ever driven in the rain. Every single time I turned around a corner, it's a one tire fire on the inside rear. I've driven in the rain here my whole life, in cars with far more power than these Frontiers, and I've never once had the TC light kick on unintentionally when it's raining out. I'm not even flooring it, I baby the hell out of this truck! I looked it up online and looks like I'm not the only one who's noticed this. I can't imagine the performance in the snow is any good if it can hardly handle some rain. As much as I hate to waste a set of new tires, I just can not wait to upgrade to something better. Noodling around the neighborhood at 20mph spinning up the rears is not something I'd like to keep doing. Read more”

“The OEM Hankook AT2 tires on an F150 are really just an overweight LT tire going through a midlife crisis. There are LT tires that likely perform better in all categories combined while being half a dozen or more pounds lighter. They are the epitome of mediocrity, the AT should stand for A ll T ypes of pavement. Soft ride, decent mileage for AT badging don't make up for sloppy wet braking, mid tier handling an allergy to mud traction and lame tread life. I'm down to 6/32 after 50,000km (31,000 miles) of less than spirited driving, they start at 14/32. The tread wear alone makes these tires damn near twice as costly as KO2s to run. They were passable in winter, better than the KO2s which turn into skates when the thermometer drops Solid 5.5/10”

“I replaced my BFGoodrich MT T/A tires on my Wrangler with Hankook AT2 Extreme's, and what a difference. I will say I was consistently getting 50k+ miles out of my MT T/A, doing a 5 tire rotation. I'm 8,000 miles in on the AT2's, and there is zero sign of wear. I do have a bit of wobble in my steering wheel now due to the tires needing a balance and rotation, but other than that, I have been very impressed. My wife's mind was blown that our jeep was so much quieter, and we could have a conversation at highway speed without having to yell over the tire noise. These things are practically silent. The off-road performance is greatly improved. Where the MT's would lose traction on mountain trails, the AT2's keep their grip and keep me moving.”

“I've loved mine on a 2024 Subaru Outback Wilderness. I came from Cooper Discoverer AT3 4S which I loved but that found one too many nails. No issues after 30,000 miles on the Hankooks. I had some Dynapro MT's back on a FJ Cruiser which I loved so that's why I decided to try them again. “I had the Dynapro AT2’s on my Lightning and they’re ok. I’d say they’re excellent dry, ok wet and in mud, marginal in snow. When I was looking for new tires I wanted an All Terrain that was slightly more aggressive for off-road and Three-Peak snow rated. But, with the Lightning, they couldn’t be a heavy tire as it would hurt range. Ended up settling on the Dynapro AT2 Xtreme. Essentially this is the newer version of the AT2. I’ve got about 10,000 miles on them so far and I’ll say dry handling is a little worse than the old AT2 (probably due to the more aggressive lugs), wet handling is about the same, but mud and snow handling is noticeably improved. So all in all, I probably wouldn’t get the AT2 again but I would do the AT2 Xtreme again.”

“NEW TIRES NEEDED 2018 f150 lariat bought new in fall of 2017. Still have the stock hankooks on, been rotated every 10k, truck only has 65,000km on it. Tires starting to show signs or cracking (tires are 8 1/2 years old) Mainly highway driving, some gravel, lots of winter (SE Sask Canada) Do I go Hankook Dynapros again or what are a solid all season tire choice? 275/55r20 EDIT UPDATE: went with hankook dynapro at2 xtremes. little pricey but aggressive looking and good all around reviews. will see if they hold up for at least another 65,000km and winter driving Read more”
