Cooper Discoverer SRX vs Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015 — Compared (September 2026)

“Tire recommendations that are lighter than Wildpeaks BLUF: Looking for an off-road capable tire (225/65R17) that doesn't weigh as much as a Falken Wildpeak. I'm aware off-road tires weigh more by design -- beefy treads, blocks, and sidewalls come at a cost weight-wise. That much I understand. That said, Falken Wildpeaks (30 lbs), Geolandar A/T G015s (30.3 lbs), Toyo Open Country A/T III (32 lbs) and even something more mild like a Cooper Discoverer SRX (31 lbs) represent a nearly 25% increase in rotational mass (I think that is the correct term) over the stock Dueler H/P Sport AS tires, and therefore will drag down MPGs and wear on the drivetrain a bit more over time. Is anyone aware of AT or AT-style tires that are fairly close to the OEM tire weight? Did anyone else shopping for tires take weight into account? I'm not in need of something super aggressive, but I do like to take on mild to moderate trails at the local OHV park, as well as the occasional dirt road overloading trip. The Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus is at least under 30 at 29 lbs, as is the 28 lbs Cooper Discoverer EnduraMax which integrates "all-terrain tire technology" according to the TireRack page. And the Firestone Destination LE 2 only weighs 24 lbs, and the LE 3 is 23 lbs. but I'm not sure how off-road capable those tires are. Thank you, this has been my Ted Talk. Read more”

“New tires.. for 2015 Limited 4WD....Michelin Defender LTX M/S vs Cooper Discoverer SRX I have had the Coopers for a while now but am looking to get a new set of tires. Should I go with them again or try out the Michelins? The Michelins seem to get good reviews and they're about the same price across both brands. What do you think? “Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015 Snow performance. I'm currently running Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015's on my 2013 Subaru XV (WIP) and I live in a semi snowy area and also work in the mountains on construction sites in Japan. My co-workers keep telling me I need dedicated studless (Winter) tires but I had zero Issue with my current tires last year. I got a little stressed out and paranoid about it today when they mentioned it again, yet they have all had slippage on snow with their dedicated tires yet I had zero. Am I over thinking things? My co-workers are asses to be honest, but anyway I've attached some photos of the sort of conditions I drove in with zero trouble, yet they had slippage coming up the hill into the jobsite.”

“GEOLANDAR A/T G015 Anyone running these on 17" rims, stock or other? I have Enkei M52 rims, 17x7.5 and 45mm offset. What size fits without rubbing? 215/60R17 looks to be the closest, the only other size close is 225/65R17 which I think will be too big without a lift. I am open to other suggestions for off-road capable tires that will mainly be used on-road. K02 is out because they don't fit without rubbing, and I plan to add flaps at some point and do not want to lift the vehicle or get different rims.”

“Changing tires (General Grabber AT3 vs Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015) Halloo I am about to pick my RR next month from the dealer and I am thinking if it is a good idea to change tires. Here is the context: I am buying the RR because I always wanted to drive a truck and I love American cars in general (I also have Mustang s197 V8). In fact I want to switch from Wrangler Sahara, which is a great car BTW, however after 4 years and only 20.000 miles I know I miss more comfort. The rest of my family even more ;-) 95% of my trips is on reagular roads, city cruising. Sometimes some rural paths (no heavy offroading). My Wrangler came with Duelers, which I replaced with Yokohama A/T G015. The difference was night and day as far as wet and cold. Here in POLAND we have two seasons: it is either hot and wet or cold and wet. Winter in my area is pretty light, however I go to the mountains once a year. So the question is: As I do not know how General Grabber AT3 works, but I trust Yokohoma G015, is the change the tires worth it?”

“Anyone here running Yokohama Geolandar A/T4 G018's? Any complaints or regrets (road noise, balancing issues, etc.), specifically in SL load? Currently have the Geolandar A/T G015's on my 4th gen and am considering the A/T4's next. All the real feedback (non-commercial reviews) I've been able find on here and other forums seem to be pretty old and mostly by people without a ton of miles on them. My use case is about 90% on road with the remaining 10% on mild to moderate trails. Not a rock crawler and never will be. The G015's in SL load have been pretty perfect but I've been thinking about changing to the A/T4's next for slightly better off road performance. Main concern (aside from weight, which is why I'm looking to stay with SL instead of C) is wet pavement safety since I drive my young kids pretty much daily. I only have a roof rack, so not too much added weight.”
